Believe it or not I had some type of insane irreparable damage done to my net connection such that I should never be able to get on to the net. I have spent the last two weeks doing things and spending hours and hours on things I never dreamed I'd do. I have been on the phone with gateway technicians for hours and hours and yet nothing. The problems they said I was encountering were of such incomprehensibility that they had marked it up for certain that I had a virus and was going to have to download all of my non corrupted files and totally start over.... on both machines. On one machine, my HP I did that.
Rather I just wiped it and started over. Screw the downloading stuff there was nothing of great importance on there anyway. I got back on line with this action (on my own no phone calls) I started working on the laptop. I even bought a new lynsys 802.11g format super duper 100mbs thing that was supposed to speed up my connection by the gazzilions... no go for 4 more days I read books on wifi and "100 industrial strength windows XP hack " no go. Finally this morning I got up and decided after checking my set up (crazily complex by the way I have 2 computers and 1 ethernet, 1 firewire going to the desktop and one going to the wireless router even though the desktop is supposedly not wireless. I don't even have a G card (if I'm supposed to); I have been told yes and no by separate supposed professionals. ultimately even Gateway set me up with a professional guy in Florida who was supposedly my last resort who was the head of all the other on line techies. I spent 4 hrs on the phone with this guy.... Very intelligent seeming and very very patient. He seemed to be stumped and of course trumpeted the same line someone who can't help you always does...." You must have a virus" wierd little thing if it is.... any way.... after all that I decided since my cmd interface was telling me I had no TCP/IP over netbios set up and no TCP/IP configured for my connection...something I had explained to the techs and all... why not try and do that?? and they suggested way of doing it was......ta da!!! Go through network wizard and let windows set it up for you. I did it and you know what? by damn even though I have a proxy routed through the Salvation Army and have 1 wireless 1 l am Ethernet connection and another somekind of connection I have never heard of and have them all "bridged" to my connection #6 wireless connection..... IT WORKS !! I AM ON HERE NOW WRITING ABOUT IT... AND YA KNOW WHAT THE CONNECTION IS FASTER THAN BEFORE....AND I DIDN'T HAVE TO DUMP MY MACHINES FILES AND STUFF!!! AND I DID IT MYSELF! THAT'S WHAT BLOWS MY MIND! I DID IT MYSELF! NO HELP! (well the books and all this time and experience helped some.... But I couldn't begin to tell you why I am on line or why I am still supposedly connected to a "toredor tunneling psuedo-interface connection" with codes I am not even going to try to tell you about. And to top it all off...... I have get this NO pop ups I mean 0000000 none 0000000 zippo nnnnoonnnee no pop ups. So far anyway don't what to get too happy here... So here's to me!! Even if no one else cares I am pretty damn impressed with myself. HOT damn and now some man in an Arabian country wants me to go get some 18,000,000.00 $ dollars out of an account for him and oddly enough this person or persons unnamed have still not asked me for a dime and I asked if it was a scam and if they were so much as going to ask me for 10cents forget it. They said there would be no need and that all the papers with power of attorney were being sent to me ,and there would never be a time when they would ask me for money. They had already investigated me and believed I was a person who would be honest enough to distribute the money as asked, and that I was to keep 10 percent as a commission or thanks for doing it. I still am waiting for them to ask me to do something that makes me in some way vulnerable to them. Yet it hasn't happened yet. I have no real hopes of this working out. I just enjoy the fun of the doing it all. I doubt it will lead anywhere but it would be fun to find out where it does lead to. After all, they know I'm no idiot,.. and I am not giving out any account #'s or any money so what's to lose ?? if any body out there knows;....tell me. Have you have heard of this? or any scams like it? I thought they targeted overly trusting elderly people or young newbie internet dingbats , or perhaps I am a ding bat... Well if they are going to get money out of me I don't know how... I don't have any!!!!! So what do ya think about that???? And if this actually happened I would actually distribute the money as asked..... believe it or not. I would.
