New posts, new me, new Blog....

I have been reading a book by Gerald N Callahan, Ph.D. Titled: Faith, Madness, and Spontaneous Human Combustion. It's about immunology and the mind, perhaps about the Immune system and the mind as more or less the same thing. Although they have long been considered separate body systems, It has been known they interact. Yet Gerald brings this interaction into a new perspective. When he tells his stories and relates his scientific correlatives with these tales, one comes away thinking that maybe just maybe the nervous system though connected to the brain has little difference in its behavior with the brain such that one notices that other than some spacial differences (somethings we humans seem to believe has greater import than it, in reality, does) There is not a lot of difference in the way our immune systems interact with the world than does our brain. Oh, its responses are slower (not really that is only in respect to size, another space and time bias) yet it sure can spank the dickens out of some of bugs we catch with out us so much as noticing (maybe our brains are the slow ones) The title has a lot of explaining to do, but that makes it intriguing and then it delivers. Faith, madness...., yes,... even spontaneous human combustion....... It's a wonderful work. Pick it up; you will learn something about yourself. I sure did. Makes ya wanna go out and eat some dirt!!!!
